Parliament remembers victims of Dec 13, 2001, attack
New Delhi | Friday, Dec 11 2009 IST

Parliament today paid homage to the victims of the terrorist attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001, reiterating the firm resolve to fight terrorism with determination and re-dedicating to protecting the nation's sovereignty and integrity.

The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha also observed silence for one minute as a mark of respect for those who had lost their lives in the attack.

The dastardly incident was remembered today since December 13 is Sunday and the House would not sit for normal procedure.

As soon as the Rajya Sabha assembled for Question Hour, Chairman Hamid Ansari read out a message condemning the incident and remembering the victims including two staff of the Parliament Security Service from the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, five Delhi Police personnel, a woman constable of CRPF and a gardener of the CPWD.

''We once again reiterate our firm resolve to fight terrorism with determination and rededicate ourselves to protect the sovereignty and integrity of our nation,'' Mr Ansari said.
