India Accreditation must for higher educational institution soon
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved a proposal for mandatory assessment and accreditation of higher educational institutions without which no assistance would be provided or grants allocated would be withheld, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said during Question Hour that the regulations had not come into force as the UGC was in consultation with the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) and the National Board of Accreditation before notifying the regulations. According to NAAC, for accreditation, a higher educational institution has to fulfill the criteria of curricular aspects, research, consultancy and extension, student support, governance and leadership and innovative practices, he said. -- (UNI) -- 11PAR4.xml
