India Sonia expresses annoyance on bad condition of canal in Rae Bareli
Congress president Sonia Gandhi today expressed her annoyance over the bad condition of Dalmau-B Pump canal in her constituency and asked the officials to do the needful at the earliest. Launching her two-day visit by an inspection of the canal at Uchgaon village in Seraini assembly constituency, Ms Gandhi was annoyed after seeing the condition of the Dalmau-B pump canal passing through the area even after Central Water Resources Ministry provided Rs 106 crore to revive the canal two years back. She asked the district officials accompanying her to look into the matter and asked them as to why the canal was dry affecting the irrigation in the region. Later, Ms Gandhi visited Chandraman Khera and Usru villages under the Seraini Assembly segment and talked with the villagers about their problems. In both the villages the Congress leader also distributed blankets among the poor families. The people of the villages complained Ms Gandhi on non- availability of electricity, fertilizers and drinking water. She also inspected a pond being constructed under the NREGA at Chandraman Khera. At Ursu village, the local MP heard the plight of two physically challenged brothers and asked them to come to New Delhi where she would arrange for their treatment. Both brothers Gulab and Rahman, over 60 years of age, had sought help from the leader. Earlier, Ms Gandhi was accorded a warm welcome at Amausi airport in Lucknow by UP Congress President, Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Congress Legislature Party leader, Pramod Tiwari along with other state leaders on her arrival from New Delhi.
