Lalgarh | Sunday, Nov 29 2009 IST

The body of Dhanapati Murmu, Branch Committee Secretary of Jharkhand Party (Aditya Group), was recovered from Khasjungle area under Lalgarh police station this morning, police said.

Superintendent of Police, West Midnapore District, MK Varma said Murmu was abducted by suspected Maoists last night and his body was found near Khasjungle. Two CPI(M) leaders of Salboni -- Tulsi Singh and Brajabikash Mahato -- who were also abducted by the ultras last night from Loudanga village under Salboni police station returned home this morning. PCPA Convenor Asit Mahato alleged that Aswini Mahato, a committee member who was fired upon by the combined forces during a gunbattle near Buri Pala, died yesterday in Midnapore Medical College and Hospital.

The PCPA is observing a 'Black Day' across the Jungle Mahal area. A number of processions were taken out by the PCPA supporters in various areas of the Jungle Mahal since this morning. The committee will observe Arandhan Day (No cooking day) tomorrow protesting the murder of Aswini by the combined forces. A fierce gunbattle is on between the ultras and the combined forces in Belatikri village under Binpur police station since this morning, SDO Jhargram, P Ulaganathan said. The combined forces have taken possession of Bhulageria, Do-mohani Hadhadi in Sadar Kotowali police station and Purnapani, Routara and Tarki under Lalgarh police station known to be a Maoists' den.
