Additional berths in AC 3 tier coaches removed
New Delhi | Thursday, Nov 26 2009 IST

Additional berths in AC III tier coaches have been removed in view of the passenger complaints related to inconvenience and inadequate space, the Lok Sabha was informed today.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said in reply to a question that the enhanced seats in other two classes -- AC I and II tier -- would also be reviewed and if necessary would be removed for the convenience of the passengers.

The layouts of AC I, AC II and AC III tier coaches had been optimised and their passenger carrying capacity was enhanced from 18 to 22, 46 to 48 and 64 to 72 respectively during the tenure of the previous Railway Minister, she added.
