India J&Ks each district to have prisons in 4-years: DG Prison
Assuring speedy prison reform, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Prisons Dr Ashok Bhan today said that each district of the state would have prison in four-years to decongest the rush of prisoners. A three-pronged strategy has been adopted to streamline the functioning of prisons with focus on improving professional capacities of the Jail staff, Dr Bhan said while speaking at the concluding function of the two-day Jammu & Kashmir Prison Duty Meet held at Central Jail in Kot-Bhalwal area on city outskirts. Dr Bhan however, said imparting vocational training to the Jail inmates, decongesting Jails and ensuring speedy trials are also the part of pronged strategy. ''Development of human resources to enhance professional competence of the Jailers is imperative for improving the functioning of prisons,'' the DG said adding, ''the Government is opening prisons in every district of the State in next four years, to ease pressure on the existing jails and ensuring speedy trials. The move is aimed at decongesting the existing jails.'' -- (UNI) -- 25DR99.xml
