India Army in Ladakh to have solar energy: Union Secy
Union Secretary for New and Renewable Energy, Deepak Gupta today said Army in Ladakh division would be provided solar energy to reduce their dependence on fuel. ''Army in Ladakh region will have a facility of solar energy and a comprehensive project for the purpose is under consideration of the Central Government,'' Mr Gupta said while chairing a high level review meeting here this morning. Mr Gupta, however, asked the officers concerned to assess the potential and feasibility of micro-hydro power and renewable energy projects for harnessing, official spokesman said. The meeting was also informed that work on 800 KW three micro-hydel power projects is in full swing in Ladakh, which is expected to be completed by September next year. -- (UNI) -- 25DR98.xml
