India Meghalaya govt seeks Rs 8,845.65 cr from Finance Commission
The Meghalaya government today sought an additional amount of Rs 8,845.65 crore from the 13th Finance Commission for upgradation of administration and specific needs to improve the socio-economic condition of the people of the state. The amount was sought through the addendum to the memorandum submitted by state Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Finance Mukul M Sangma to the Commission. Dr Sangma said the submission of the Addendum arose due to the fact that the state government felt that certain aspects, which were important to be placed before the Finance Commission for consideration, were not highlighted and included in the memorandum. He also informed that the government took the services of the Foundation of Public Economics and Policy Research for the preparation of the addendum to the memorandum. -- (UNI) -- 24CA63.xml
