India Lawyers agitation in Bhilwara ends
The five-day-old agitation by lawyers and traders in this town in protest against "torture" by the police which allegedly compelled a young lawyer to commit suicide, ended this afternoon following understanding between the government and the agitating people. As per the demand of the agitators, an FIR under section 306 of IPC for torture and/or atrocities forcing one to commit suicide, has been registered against District Superintendent of Police P Ramoji, two officers of deputy superintendents and some other cops, including the Subhashnagar SHO. Subsequently, the agitating lawyers lifted dharna from outside the deceased lawyer Amit Yadav's residence and facilitated the police to lift the body for autopsy. The deceased was cremated at his native village Sarehi near here late this afternoon. The trade bandh and lawyers strike has also been called off. -- (UNI) -- 23DR85.xml
