Bhagavat interacts with BJP leaders to strengthen movement
Bangalore | Sunday, Nov 22 2009 IST

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagavat today held a day-long interaction with various like- minded leaders and politicians belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) to strengthen the rightist movement in the country and to infuse new life into the party, which had received repeated setbacks in the recent elections.

A 'bhaitak', a brain storming session, was held among the leaders of RSS at a private college in the city, which witnessed coordination talks from various leaders of the organisation and several functionaries from the BJP Government in Karnataka.

Incidentally Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, had met Mr Bhagavat twice yesterday and received inputs on taking forward the only BJP Government down the south of Vindhyas, which was rattled by rebellion only recently.

The bhaitak was open only for invitees and public. Media was kept out of it.

Sources said Mr Bhagavat, during his two-day interactions, took exception to the ''weakening'' of the BJP Government in Karnataka, and the party itself pan-India due to lack of cohesion among the BJP leaders. The RSS Chief dwelt at length on the need to spread awareness about RSS and extending its influence in the State and across the country.

Hectic activity was witnessed in the RSS state-unit since yesterday morning, after the arrival of Mr Bhagavat in the city on Friday night. The Chief Minister and some of his cabinet colleagues and top RSS leaders, were among those, who received him.

During his first visit to the city after taking over as the Sarasanghachalak, Mr Bhagavat was involved in a series of functions and meetings.

RSS sources said preparations were on for the last few months for this programme. Around 5000 workers were on mission-mode by contacting 3,00,000 lakh households across the tech hub.

As a prelude to the public meeting held in the evening, the 'swayamsevaks' took part in their traditional dresses and demonstrated physical exercises in tune with their unique Band Music.

All roads leading to the Palace Grounds, where the public meeting was held, was painted in saffron, with festoons and buntings put up along the roads.
