Upgrade Vijayawada as Greater City, CM to officials

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah today directed the officials to prerpare an action plan for upgrading Vijayawada into a ''Greater city.'' Responding to an appeal mady by Vijayawada City Mayor M Ratnabindu to the Chief Minister to take steps to upgrade the city by merging 15 villages, the Chief Minister directed the officials to look into the matter.

The Mayor, who met the Chief Minister at Gannavaram airport here, said the issue was pending since last three years and late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had promised to upgrade the city.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister who came here after attending his grandsons marriage in Guntur, left for Hyderabad by a special aircraft.
