Advani chopper issue: NDA for EC action against J'khand admin

The NDA today petitioned the Election Commission to take action against Jharkhand Administration authorities for allegedly jeopardising the security of its leaders, L K Advani and Sharad Yadav, by giving wrong coordinates for flying of the helicopter carrying the two.

In a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Navin Chawla, Bharatiya Janta Party Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, whose party leads the NDA, said the two leaders wanted to go to Nala district to address joint public rallies, but because of the wrong coordinates given by civil aviation authorities, their copter kept hovering for 45 minutes over Naxal-affected areas.

They could have landed at Godda, 100 km ahead of the target, when the helicopter fuel was to run out, the letter said. It urged Mr Chawla to take action against the authorities concerned who either mislead deliberately or committed a serious lapse.
