Elaborate security measures for Rahul Gandhis visit
Itanagar | Sunday, Nov 22 2009 IST

The Arunachal Pradesh government has made an elaborate security arrangement in view of AICC General Secretary and youth icon Rahul Gandhis proposed visit to the state tomorrow.

Altogether six companies of security forces, including state police, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and CRPF, have been deployed in the entire capital complex to thwart any untoward incidents.

Home Minister Tako Dabi visited all the venues this morning to supervise the security measures being adopted for Mr Gandhi.

The Lok Sabha MP is scheduled to participate in the valedictory function of the inter-state Youth festival at Rajiv Gandhi University at Doimukh. He would also address the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) executive meeting at Rajiv Bhawan besides addressing the Congress party victory rally at Indira Gandhi Park here.

''We are ready from all angles and there will be no security related problem,'' a confident Dabi commented.

Capital Complex Superintendent of Police (SP) Hibu Tamang informed that the twin capital cities have been divided into six zones which would be headed by an officer of the SP rank.

''All the zones have been divided into 19 sectors which will be looked after by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) or inspectors,'' he disclosed, adding separate contingency plans have also been prepared for all the sensitive areas.

Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Tashi Lama informed that all the check gates have been sensitised and security apparatus have been beefed up to check all the hotels in the capital complex.

''We have requested the army for area dominations in and around Itanagar and Doimukh,'' he added.
