Guj govt targets trauma centre network in state in two yrs: Vyas
Ahmedabad | Sunday, Nov 22 2009 IST

The Gujarat government is targeting to create a network of trauma centres across the state in a period of two years, state health minister Jaynarayan Vyas has said.

The Minister, while addressing a one-day awareness workshop on Accreditation of Hospitals and Health Providers organised by FICCI here yesterday, said that trauma centres are among his next major initiatives. Mr Vyas emphasised on adaption of quality care in the State as well across the country. He also talked about the progress made by Gujarat in the healthcare sector and programs like increasing the number of medical seats in the MBBS and for PG courses, adding more medical colleges, raising the standard of government hospitals and improving the emergency services (108 EMRI).

Appraising the FICCI for organizing the workshop for private sector, the minister said FICCI must organize more such workshops to encourage the stakeholders to embark upon quality mission. Mr Pankaj Patel, chairman of FICCI-Gujarat said, ''Quality was a moment that we started sometime back in India under QCI and FICCI has been part of this movement right from the inception, when this Council was formed.'' He said that the major challenge that we see is to bring the current level of services to the next level. The right model to bring next level of services is by adopting the accreditation of hospitals and develop systems to ensure that this quality is maintained.
