Lok Adalats dispose off 1.29 lakh pending cases

The public courts (Lok Adalats) held under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh State Legal Aid Advisory Board in the state this year helped dispose off 1.29 lakh pending cases.

Board President Justice Deepak Mishra told reporters here yesterday that the disposal of the cases led to an award of Rs 94.68 crore to the persons on whose favour cases were decided in the courts.

He said the public courts diposed off long pending cases in the Labour Courts besides matter on family, marriages and bouncing of cheques. Last year, similar courts held in the state helped dispose off 1.12 lakh cases on a single day which was a record.
