19 bands in Hornbill National Rock Contest

Altogether 19 Rock bands from various parts of the country will contest in the 'Hornbill National Rock Contest', to be held during the Hornbill Festival begining from December 1, at the Heritage Village in Kisama.

The organisers said there would be four local Rock bands of Nagaland, which have already been selected through an audition on Friday.

The fifteen Rock bands from nine other states of the country are Abraxas(Pune), Baraka(Darjeeling), Chronic Xorn and Cynical Recess (Kolkata), Hypnosis(Delhi), Inferno (Mumbai), Kanglasha(Manipur), Lucid Recess(Guwahati), Phobia(Delhi), Pip of the Fourth Mother (Shillong), Silverscreen(Kolkata), Slain and Sonstroke(Bangalore), Stacys Penitence(Mizoram) and the Pot, Stone and Blues(Ahmedabad).

The four local bands are OFF, Dementia, Sunep Ensemble Band and Melodrama.

The winner will bag 5,00,000 for the first prize, while runner-up will pocket Rs 1,50,000 Lakh and the third placed team will get Rs 1,00,000. Besides individual prizes of Rs 25,000, for best instrumentalists would also be given.
