More rains in next 48 hours

More rains were forecast for the next 48 hours as yesterday's trough of Low Pressure area over the South West bay persists. Weather office sources told UNI today that the trough of low pressure over the South West bay, which lay centred over Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coasts, persists.

Under its influence, rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at many places in South Tamil Nadu and at a few places in North Tamil Nadu.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall was also likely to occur over South Tamil Nadu during the next 48 hours.

Chennai City would have generally cloudy skies with a possibility of one or two showers.

Meanwhile, several parts of southern Tamil Nadu received incessant rains since last night.

Chennai City and suburban areas, which bore the brunt of rain fury last week following a couple of low pressure systems that activated the North East Monsoon, experienced light showers this morning.
