Centre asks states to protect railway properties
New Delhi | Friday, Nov 20 2009 IST

The Centre today directed state governments to take effective measures for the protection of railway properties and ensuring smooth running of trains. According to an official release issued here, to ensure the smooth running of trains, the Centre has started providing pilot engines to run before vulnerable trains as per the advise of police authorities.

Regular co-ordination meetings are being conducted to optimise the efforts of police, Central para-military forces and Railway Protection Force (RPF).

All possible assistance for mobilising forces at remote stations is being provided to the state governments, and security of sensitive areas and railway stations situated in such areas is being coordinated and monitored with the respective state governments and Ministry of Home Affairs.
