A week-long National Book Festival will be held at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds here from February 7, Kannada Book Authority Chairman Siddhalingaiah. Addressing a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in connection with the State-level Kannada Book Festival, he said the festival had not been held in the last 20 years. The book festival would be of international standard with a touch of modern technology. Cultural programmes would be held on all seven days, he added. The festival will be held in association with the Kannada Book Authority, Mysore District Administration, Department of Public Instructions, Department of Collegiate Education, Mysore Zilla Panchayat, University of Mysore and Karnataka University, Dharwad. Mr Siddhalingaiah said publishers and resource persons who will participate in the book festival would be given food, lodging and travelling allowances also. The fest would be on par with Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. Only Kannada titles would be on exhibition-cum-sale. Noted Kannada litterateurs and writers are expected to participate in the book festival as resource persons.
