Two injured in group clash in judicial court complex

Panic gripped the Phillaur Judicial Court complex today, when about a dozen armed assailants belonging to one group, attacked and seriously wounded two members of a rival group just outside the court room here.

The injured, identified as Tirlochan Singh of Bilga and Gurmit Ram of Sandhola village, were admitted to Phillaur Civil Hospital with multiple injuries, inflicted by sharp-edged weapons. The assailants also opened fire before fleeing from the spot, Phillaur DSP Kamaljit Singh Dhillon stated.

Giving details of the incident, Mr Dhillon said both rival groups headed by Tirlochan and Manoj Kumar alias Kali had to appear before the Phillaur Judicial Magistrate in an old case registered under Section 160 of the IPC against both groups. The members of the Kali group attacked Tirlochan and his accomplices and then escaped after firing shots in the air, he added. Police have registered a case under sections 307/323/324/148/149 of the IPC and 25/54/59 of Arms Act against Kali and his accomplices Vinay of Nurmahal, Sonu of Roorkee, Sohan of Kandola, Lata, Shoney and Gaurav, all of Nurmahal and Goldy of Cheema Khurad.
