City of Nawab organises Run to highlight Asian TT tourney

The city of Nawab today organised 'Run for Table Tennis for Polio Prevention' to highlight the 19th Asian Table Tennis Championship to be held here from November 16 to 22.

Arjun Awardee and eight-time national women TT Champion Indu Puri,former Indian Captain of Hockey and Olympian Ravinder Pal Singh, World Cup Player Rajneesh Mishra and Olympion Gold winner and the Coach having the distinction of producing over 60 international players Ramavtar Mishra participated in the run along with over 300 youths and sportspersons including several senior officials of the state. Organising Committee secretary Arun Kumar Banerjee said that the run was held to show-case the Asian Table Tennis Championships and to involve public at large. The Run was also aimed to create awareness about the Pulse Polio campaign and to create an hype in the masses for the table tennis championships with expected huge participation. The Run was flagged-off by the Distt Magistrate of Lucknow Amit Kumar Ghosh from K D Singh Stadium and went up the Raj Bhavan and was back to the stadium for the concluding function.

Attractive prizes was given to the winners in various categories for men, women, children and veterans. Over 300 players including all the world ranking players from 25 countries, are participating in this Asian Championship which is being organized at the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Academy here for the first time.

The UP Table Tennis Assocation will also hold Road Shows in the state capital to promote the championship.
