India Pondy to implement Goondas Act in December
Goondas Act will be introduced in the union territory in December this year, Union Minister of State for Planning, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture V Narayansamy said today. Speaking at a function here, the Minister said the police department should take earnest efforts to prevent crimes. He also handed over 10 ambulance vans, costing Rs Rs 25 lakh utilising his area development fund, to the police department. Prescious lives could be saved if the accident victims were brought to the hospital in time, he said. Chief Minister V Vaithilingam, Rajya Sabha member Kannan, Speaker R Radhakrishnan and Home Minister E Valsaraj also participated in the function. -- (UNI) -- 08MS9.xml
