DIC officer held for accepting bribe in Jammu

The sleuths of State Vigilance Organisation today arrested an officer of District Industries Centre (DIC) for accepting bribe for registration of a Small Scale Industries, official spokesman here said.

''Acting on a written complaint of one Sham Singh, resident of Chack Majra, Bishnah alleging that Parveen Sharma, statistical Officer in the Economic Investigation Section of District Industries Centre Jammu demanded illegal gratification for processing his papers for registration of an SSI Unit for manufacture of Jute bags, that Vigilance team laid a trap this morning,'' the spokesman said.

The Vigilance team caught the DIC red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant, he added.

''The accused had already accepted one installment from the complainant and was demanding more,'' he said.

Meanwhile, a case against FIR number 25/2009 under section Prevention of Corruption Act 2006 r/w 161 RPC was registered against him.
