True leadership above politics: Modi

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said, when it comes to true leadership, one should rise above politics.

''I could transform Gujarat as its public participated in development. The formula brought change in law, agriculture, education, technology and other sectors,'' he said -- as Chief Guest -- via video-conferencing while addressing a two-day Indian Institute of Management convention here.

Mr Modi answered many students' queries.

National Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda, who was honoured by the Lifetime Outstanding Achievement Award, said that leadership was about farsightedness and character-building.

''Leadership in this century will be completely different from that in the previous one as now cooperation, communication and confidence will play a cardinal role,'' he felt.

Among those present was former Chief of Army Staff General (retd) Ved Prakash Malik.
