BJP nominee arrested after nomination filed

Former MLA and BJP candidate Prashant Mandal was arrested after filing his nomination for Poraiyahat Assembly seat going to the first phase of polling on November 25.

Mandal was charged with blocking road under Poraiyahat police station as he led a group of protestors in September last who demanded immediate arrest of the accused in a rape case.

The BJP nominee was also charged with dirupting office function and FIR was lodged.

Today, as he came out after filing nominaion here, he was arrested.

Last week former HRD minister Bandhu Tirkey was arrested in connection with similar case of blocking a road few years back.
