Three held for beating Naga students
New Delhi | Saturday, Nov 7 2009 IST

The Delhi police today arrested three youths in connection with the attack on two Naga students recently in Kotla Mubarakpur area of south district.

The arrests were made after the intervention by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). ''A senior officer has spoken to one of the office-bearers of Naga Students Union, Lucky Mukato, and has assured of all possible help in the case,'' a CMO spokesperson said. ''He has also taken up the matter with police to ensure proper protection and intensify patrolling,'' he said. The youths, in the age group of 20 years, were identified as Shahrukh Khan, Sumit and Suresh, the spokesperson said.

On November 5, two youth -- Yun Sun, student of Dayal Singh College and Nuito Chisi, student of Vardhman Medical college -- were beaten up with sticks and bricks and later on taken to JPN Trauma Centre where an MLC was prepared. ''It has been told that four or five people were involved in this incidence which took place after throwing of momos on the Naga students,'' the spokesperson said.

A case under section 323 and 325 IPC has been registered, he informed.
