2 PWD engineers caught accepting bribe

Two engineers of the Public Works Department were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe from a contractor in Uttarkashi district.

According to in-charge SSP Vrijendra Juyal, Vigilance, Assistant Engineer Rajnish Kumar and Superintending Engineer Mahipal Baseda were posted at Badkot in Uttarkashi district.

Kirat Ram, a Dehradun-based contractor, lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Department that the engineer-duo had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.6 lakh for approving the contract, After some haggling, the duo had agreed to take Rs 1.05 lakh.

The Vigilance department set up a trap and caught the engineers while they were taking the bribe. They would be presented before a court later today.
