India 20 pc voters cast vote before noon in assembly byepoll
An estimated 19.37 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in the first three hours of polling for the bye-elections to the three Assembly constituencies of Kannur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha. According to Election Commission sources, Kanur recorded 19.96 per cent of polls, Ernakulam 18.43 per cent and Alapuzzha 20.08 per cent till 1100 hrs. In spite of the unprecedented rain, voters were seen at the polling stations from the morning itself. In Kannur, United Democratic Front(UDF) candidate A P Abdulla Kutty exercised his franchise at Radha Vilasam School, Pallikkunnu and the BJP candidate K Ranjith cast his vote at Palliyanmool North L P School. Union Minister of State for Railways E Ahamed, had also exercised his franchise at Anayidukku UP School. No untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
