Gwalior | Thursday, Nov 5 2009 IST

A scintillating 98 by Ankit Sharma aided Madhya Pradesh to amass a first-innings score of 291 for 6, thereby securing an 88-run lead over Haryana on the second day of a 4-day encounter under the C K Nayudu Under-22 Cricket Tournament.

At Capt Roop Singh Stadium here, the hosts began adding to an overnight score of 39/1. Sharma faced 183 deliveries and sent the cherry hurtling to the rope no less than 15 times. Other contributors were skipper Rameez Khan (34) and Himalaya Sagar (46). At stumps, Manoj Singh (35) and Zafar Ali (30) were at the crease.

For the visitors, Jayant Yadav and Yatharth Tomar scalped 3 batsmen each.
