UP gets a tough target from Karnataka in Ranji tie

Karnataka batsmen make merry at the expense of Uttar Pradesh attack setting a tough victory target of 437 runs for the hosts on the penultimate day of the four-day elite group 'B' Ranji Trophy cricket match being played at Bhama Shah stadium here today.

After gaining a first innings lead of 126 runs, Karanataka declared their second innings at 311 for 5 giving target of 437 runs for UP.

UP were 30 for one at the stumps losing opener Tanmay Srivastava to first innings hero of Karnataka Abhimanyu Mithun. Earlier, managed to save the follow on due to some resolute batting by the lower order batsmen.

In the second essay, Karnataka made quick runs with almost all their batsmen got engaged in lusty hitting before declaring the innings at 311 for 5. Skipper Rahul Dravid remained not out at 51 while getting useful contribution from openers KB Pawan( 78) and Robin Uthappa (56).
