Badrinath's ton take Tamil Nadu to 312 for 8
New Delhi | Thursday, Nov 5 2009 IST

S Badrinath (111) cracked a patient century to take Tamil Nadu to 312 for eight in the first innings against Railways on the third day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Super League Group A match here today.

At stumps, Chandrasekar Ganapathy (17) and Rajamani Jesuraj (0) were at the crease with Tamil Nadu 15 runs adrift of Railway's first innings score of 327 all out.

Resuming at their overnight score of 150 for two, Tamil Nadu lost Murali Vijay (65) without addition of a single run and captain Dinesh Karthick (13) too followed him with the team score at 169 for 4.

Badrinath however, held one end and the fall of wickets at the other end did not deter his concentration.

The stylish right-hander dug deep to score his century, which required high level of concentration and patience.

Badrinath added 52 runs for the fifth wicket stand with Suresh Kumar and then Ravichandran Ashwin joined him to put on 53 runs for the sixth wicket partnership.

In his 338-ball innings, Badrinath struck seven hits to the fence and a couple of sixes before he was trapped leg-before by medium pacer Sanjay Bangar.

For Railways, left-arm spinner Murali Kartik scalped three victims, while Shailendra Gehlot grabbed a couple of wickets.
