India WB Contry Director meets TN CM to review funded projects
World Bank's Country Director for India Roberto Zagha today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and reviewed various projects funded by it. The meeting was held at the State Secretariat Secretariat. ''We had fruitful discussions,'', Mr Zagha said after the meeting. An official press release said various projects being implemented by the State Government with World Bank assistance were reviewed during the meeting. Among the projects that were reviewed included the Rs 2160 crore road upgradation scheme, Rs 1959 crore tsunami rehabilitation scheme, Rs 2,547 crore PWD and Agriculture department's water and land wealth schemes and Rs 493 crore basic infrastructural development scheme for district headquarters hospitals, among others. During the meeting, Mr Karunanidhi urged the World Bank official to expedite release of additional funds of Rs 243 crore for Road upgradation scheme, Rs 572.62 crore for Health and sanitation scheme and Rs 950 crore for 'Vaazhnthu Kaatuvom' scheme and recalled the Integrated nutrition Project launched with World Bank assistance several years back. -- (UNI) -- 05MS39.xml
