Karnataka Cong accuses BJP of betraying people
Bangalore | Thursday, Nov 5 2009 IST

Karnataka Congress Committee President R V Deshpande today charged the Bharatiya Janata Party Government with ''betraying the people'' by ignoring their interests. Speaking to newsmen at the party office here, he said it was unfortunate the BJP Government was dogged by dissident activities at a time when the North Karnataka people were displaced by floods due to heavy rains. Instead of rushing to the aid of the affected people, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was busy safeguarding his government. The Chief Minister should either act or quit, he quipped. Replying to queries, he said the Congress would not intervene as it was the internal matter of the BJP. The Governor had taken note of latest developments, he told a questioner denying the idea to submit a memorandum to him in this regard. To a question, he said mid term polls was not a solution to the existing political scenario and said it was just one and a half year old since the election to the Assembly was held. However, he declined to comment on joining hands with any political faction to form the government saying that the Congress would prefer to watch the situation for the present.
