70-member strong Indian contigent for Asian Athletic meet

A strong Indian athletic contingent, comprising 70 odd men and women athletes, including coaches and officials, will take part in the forthcoming Asian Athletic Championship, slated for November 10-14 in China.

Almost all prominent men and women athletes like Manjit Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Krishna Punia, Om Prakash, Abdul Najeeb, Satya, Harwant Kaur and so on, shall take part in the Championship, according to Sanjay Garnaik, coordinator of the ongoing national athletic coaching camp here at the NIS.

In the last Asian Athletic Championship in Amman (Jordan), the Indian athletes had performed wonderfully well.

Hopefully, the athletes are likely to perform well in China, looking at the intensive training they have undergone in the ongoing national camp under Indian and foreign coaches. It will be the acid test for men and women athletes who have an eye on the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi beginning October 3 next year.

Tentatively, the Indian contingent will leave for China on November 7 in batches.
