India Work towards saving Himalayan ecology: Sri Sri Ravishankar
Spiritual leader and Art of Living Guru Sri Sri Ravishankar today asked people to work towards protection of Himalayan ecosystem. Addressing a small gathering at Chief Minister's residence here, Sri Sri Ravishankar said falling of trees in Himalayan region is a cause of great concern for the entire world. He exhorted the people to plant trees in a big manner. ''Melting of Gangotri glaciers is having a toll on world environment,'' he said. He said ''The Himalayas has world's rarest herbs and we need to increase the production of such herbs which will be useful in maintaing the health of the world.'' The Art of Living Guru said ''hilly people are very goodhearted but poverty is their major problem. We need to launch schemes to eradicate the poverty from the hilly regions. Promotion of tourism and development of transport system would help in their efforts to earn their livelihood.''
