Two arrested; 4500 willow clefts seized in Jammu

The Jammu Police today arrested two people and seized a truck loaded with willow clefts that were being smuggled from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab, police sources here said.

Based on specific information, police laid a special nakka near Channi Himmat area on the city outskirts and intercepted a willow clefts-laden Jalandhar-bound truck with fake registration JK01K-5442.

''During investigation, it was found that 4,500 willow clefts were being smuggled to Punjab,'' a police official said adding the truck's original registration was JK051- 8018. The truck has been seized.The arrested were identified as Bilal Ahmed of Awantipora and Nazir Ahmed Wani of Pulwama in Srinagar.
