Raj Thackrey's comment dangerous to national unity : Nabi
Patna | Tuesday, Nov 3 2009 IST

Coming down heavily on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackrey for his diktat for the new Legislators in the state asking them to take oath only in Marathi, former Bihar Minister Shyamlal Nabi felt that it might divide the nation on the basis of languages.

Lambasting Mr Thackrey for 'directing' all new MLAs in Maharashtra to take their oath only in Marathi and in no other language, Mr Nabi here today said such dictat, if adheared to, would deal a major blow to the unity and integrity of the nation. Everybody had the constitutional right to take oath in any Indian language they preferred and none had any right to force anybody to take oath or speak in only one language, said Mr Nabi.

He also urged the MNF chief to desist from making such remarks in future. '' This is against the fabric of our one nation theory, '' he observed.
