India IT Raids in Mumbai on associates of Madhu Koda
Sleuths of the Income-Tax department here found documents pertaining to Hawala transfer of Rs 500 crore during raids at Manoj Punamia's residence in connection with the disproportionate assets allegation against former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda. Punamia was working at the behest of Sanjay Chaudhary, a close associate of Koda, sources said. The Income-Tax department also raided yesterday offices of Balaji Bullion corporation in the city, where documentary evidence of transfer of Rs 50 crore to Dubai was seized. The raids were part of the series of searches conducted at Ranchi, New Delhi, Kolkata and Lucknow over the last three days after Mr Koda provided information about investments made at different places.
