Ajay Chautala resigns as Rajya Sabha member

Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secretary general Ajay Singh Chautala, who got elected to the state Vidhan Sabha in the recent assembly elections, resigned from the membership of Rajya Sabha today.

Son of INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala, Mr Ajay Chautala was elected from Dabwali assembly constituency, defeating Dr K V Singh, former OSD to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

His tenure as MP Rajya Sabha was to complete in August 2010.

He was earlier elected as MLA from Data Ramgarh and Nohar assembly constituencies in Rajasthan and served two terms there as legislator from 1990-1993 and 1993-1998 respectively. In 1999, Mr Ajay Chautala was elected as Lok Sabha MP from Bhiwani. In August, 2004, he was elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Haryana.
