Khadi Fashion Show enthralls audience in Goa
Panaji | Tuesday, Nov 3 2009 IST

Khadi Goes Global--a fashion show organised to promote Khadi and spirit of Independence movement behind the hand woven cloth-- enthralled the packed audience at the Kala Akademy at this international tourist destination today.

Inaugurated by Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat, the show was organised by the Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board. The performance, particularly by the tiny tots, held the audience spell bound with a model of Charka providing a fascinating backgrounder on the podium.

Ms India World-2006 Natasha Suri compered the show, choreographed by Charmaine Shackleton Godhino and designed by Verma De Mello. The models who participated included Harshita Saxena (Femina Ms India 2009 finalist), Darshika Saxena (Femina Ms India 2006 finalist), Viraj Deshpande (Gladrags Manhunt 2006 first runner up) and Kair Pinto Makhija(Grasim Mr India 2002 finalist).

In all, nine adults and nine kids participated in the well organised show, conceptualised by ''Event Mantra''. The shows exhibited traditional wear, kids wear, casual wear, western evening wear, ethnic fusion and corporate wear besides bridal wear.

''Our effort is to acquaint you with the versatility of Khadi with glamour, style, panache and what not, to promote Khadi across the world,'' chairperson of GKVB told the audience.
