Technology firm claims 'AiroCide' can prevent Swine flu
Mumbai | Tuesday, Aug 11 2009 IST

As the deadly H1N1 virus has left the nation grappling by claiming 11 lives and hundred others infected, Great White Technologies, a technology company, claimed that ''AiroCide'' --an advanced technology, developed by NASA, could prevent the flu.

The Company, which assembles and markets AiroCide in India, claimed that the technology was the only effective preventive measure. AiroCide uses a process called Enconditioning, which was developed by NASA and its scientists years ago, when they were mandated with creating an Air Management System that could lengthen the life of plants and produce (In a closed environment, the build-up of ethylene gas that is emitted by plants hastens the process of ripening thereby shortening the life of fruits and vegetables), the company said in a release. The result of their endeavours was a process called Enconditioning (Environment Conditioning) built into a machine called AiroCide, it said. The Company said apart from preventing the build-up of ethylene, this state-of-the-art Enconditioning System has the capability of annihilating almost every kind of known virus, micro-organism or pathogens. ''Deadly gases like Anthrax too cannot escape its preventive prowess and now, as has been discovered, neither can the Swine Flu Virus. In other words, AiroCide Enconditioners are the world's only technology that can actually prevent the spread of this deadly virus and ensure an environment that is safe to live-in for humans and animals alike,'' the release said.

According to sources, more than 30,000 AiroCides have been installed across the globe and more than 1,000 units in India in just a period of 2 months. ''It's a very handy machine in case of these outbreaks. It is very useful and can be used to improve sterility and environment inside a hospital,'' the release quoted Dr Karanjikar, Associate Vice President, Wockhardt Hospital.

The company claimed that AiroCide conditions the environment to its purest form, eliminating 99.9998% of air-borne microorganisms, bacteria, and pollutants in the air.
