India BSES asked for information on problem areas
Keeping up its pressure on BSES, the Delhi government has asked the power distribution company to identify likely locations of faults which might occur during the rainy season to avoid any power problems and also improve the functioning of its call centres. After examining the Detailed Action Plan (DAP) submitted by BSES, the Delhi government's power department has written to BSES's CEO seeking additional information and clarification on the plan. The discom has also been advised to compile this information on the basis of problem areas noticed during the past few years during the rainy season. Power department has further requested to provide a list of fault-prone feeders/transformers and specific action plan on each of them. It has specifically stated that the city government is concerned about the possible difficulties during the rainy season, said an official statement here. BSES came under heavy criticism last week from Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over the frequent power cuts. Dikshit warned the discom to improve power supply in four days and also asked it to submit a DAP with a point-wise description on how it proposed to bring the entire system back on track. The power department has also asked about average call-waiting time and maximum call-waiting time and other parameters of efficiency, which a call centre has been maintaining. It has also asked to specify the number of call agents at a time working in call centers before June 30, 2009 and thereafter, the official statement added. The department has further asked BSES to publicise the number of the monitoring centres, which are supposed to monitor the efficiency of complaint centres and call centres. It also asked them to publicize the telephone numbers of their senior officials involved in operation and maintenance. It asked BSES to provide information on actual load-shedding done on July 1 and 2, its duration and whether it was done in accordance with the load-shedding schedule or not. ma/rn/vt ( 336 Words) 2009-07-03-21:49:49 (IANS)
