ACT TV to launch Interactive TV services in city
Bengaluru | Thursday, Feb 26 2009 IST

ACT Television, a city-based Multi System Operator (MSO) today announced the launch of its Interactive TV service in the city with an investment of Rs 450 crore. With this launch, ACT would become the first player to have introduced the Interactive TV service in the tech hub. It had utilised the most advanced R and D expertise and technology in its new IPTV service. Set to revolutionise the Indian television market, Interactive TV was a system that delivers better than digital content services to subscribers using Internet protocol over a broadband connection in a closed network infrastructure. Talking to newspersons here, Sunder Raju, MD of ACT Television said, ''ACT Interactive TV provides the viewer with his favourite TV channels, get movies or watch videos available on the internet.

Soon the subscriber would be able to play multi-user games, send e-mails and voice-mails from their TV sets, conduct online shopping, education and banking using a compact remote.'' The cost of the service would depend upon the services a customer subscribes for. The basic rates starts from Rs 300 a month, he said. ACT, which began its operations initially by launching its digital cable service in the city, Indore and Nellore, is planning to expand their cable digital services in South and Central India.

Besides IPTV, ACT has various service offerings under its domain like Digital Cable and Broadband Internet, Mr Raju added.
