UCE students on relay hunger strike Sambalpur | Rabu, Agust 27 2008 IST
Students of University College of Engineering (UCE) at Burla today resorted to relay hunger strike demanding Unitary University status to the institution. The agitated students who were on a peaceful dharna in front of the office of the administrative building decided to launch relay hunger strike in support of their demand. The students regretted that neither the Chief Minister nor the Industries minister is concerned of the demands. Even the local MPs and MLAs have never bother to visit us to extend support to the genuine demand, they alleged. When contacted UCE principal Prof C R Tripathy said he was in touch with the secretary of industries department and requested students to call off strike since the earlier demand for deemed university was pending with University Grants Commission (UGC). -- (UNI) -- 27CA65.xml
