Pathanamthitta | Sabtu, Agust 23 2008 IST

The annual Ashtami-Rohini Valla Sadhya, a ritualistic mass feast, organised jointly by the Palliyoda Seva Sangham and the Travancore Devaswom Board, was held at the Aranmula Parthasarathy temple today with religious fervour and traditional gaiety.

Around 50,000 people from across the state took part in the mass feast.

Valla Sadhya, an offering to the presiding diety was held following the 'Uchapooja.' The feast was served first to the oarsmen of 41 'palliyodams.' Earlier, the snake-boat crew was accorded a reception in traditional style at temple ghats and led to the temple in a colourful procession. Travancore Devaswam Board president C K Guptan inaugurated the feast.
