Congress gives whip to legislators for voting in budget session Panaji | Friday, Aug 8 2008 IST
The ruling Congress today issued a whip to all its legislators for compulsorily attending the monsoon session of the Goa Assembly for voting in favour of the government for passing the budget bills. The CLP, which met today under the leadership of chief minister Digambar Kamat, also unanimously decided to send a resolution to UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for giving representation to Goa in the Central Cabinet. The CLP decided to ward off any trouble likely to be created by the the Opposition BJP or some dissidents within, so that there would not be any crisis situation to the government as was witnessed in the last two sessions. With the recent induction of unattached Taleigao legislator Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate into the Cabinet at the instance of the Congress high command, the CLP was confident that the goings would be smooth in the House. The monsoon session adopts various bills to pass budget on different heads. The February session had adopted a vote on account for five months ending on August and hence the full budget session this season. -- (UNI) -- 08BY30.xml
