No sale of land to outsiders like in HP and Uttaranchal: BJP Panaji | Friday, Aug 8 2008 IST
The BJP today sought a ban on the sale of land to outsiders in Goa like in Himachal Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Interacting with mediapersons, the Opposition BJP leader Manohar Parrikar said the outsiders be barred from purchase of land in Goa, which has already been facing resource constraint. He said the party would introduce four private members bills in the Monsoon session of the state legislative assembly commencing from August 18. One bill seeks restriction on the movement of the off-shore casinos beyond five nautical miles away from the shore, while the other wants scrapping of the recent amendments to the town and country planning act vesting unilateral authority with the government for overriding people's suggestions. The two other bills seek ban on immersion of Lord Ganesh idols in the lakes and protecting women sarpanches from facing no confidence motion for at least one year of their tenure. -- (UNI) -- 08BY28.xml
