NZ umpires seminar begins at PCA Chandigarh | Friday, Aug 8 2008 IST
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has allotted the North Zone Umpiring Seminar to Punjab Cricket Association for the candidates who will be appearing in the BCCI Panel umpires examination to be held in September. The BCCI is organising seminars on zonal basis for all the candidates who have been recommended by their state associations to appear in the BCCI Panel umpires examination. The North Zone seminar which was today inaugurated by BCCI Joint Secretary MP Pandove at the PCA Stadium, Mohali, is being attended by 20 candidates from all North Zone state associations like Delhi and District Cricket Association, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, Punjab Cricket Association, Services and Haryana Cricket Association. The seminar will concluded on August 10. During the seminar all laws of cricket, rules, conventions will be shared with the candidates. While addressing the candidates, Mr Pandove said that ''to be a good umpire, a person needs a good analytical mind, sharp decision making qualities in addition to the thorough knowledge of the rules''.
