AP urges Centre to allocate 250 MW power
Hyderabad | Friday, Jul 25 2008 IST

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said he would seek the Centre to allocate an additional 250 MW of power from the unallocated quota to the State. The Centre had earlier allocated only 50 MW to the State in response to its earlier request. The Government also requested the Centre and NTPC to postpone overhauling of Simhadri power project for one more month tentatively. Since the past three or four days, though the demand was 193 mu, supply was only to the tune of 173 mu. The present demand had come down to 163 mu.

Reviewing the issues pertaining to energy department and the scheme of waiver of surcharge on power bills to the SC,ST,BC (excluding creamy layer) and handloom weavers with the officials concerned here, Dr Reddy directed the officials to come out with a new policy under the waiver scheme and not to levy either surcharge or minimum charge to any body after disconnection,an official release here said.
