Addl Family Court opened in AP

Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Ghulam Mohammed today inaugurated the Additional Family Court and Special Sessions Court for Trial of Cases Under SCs and STs Prevention of Atrocities Act and Mediation Centre in the District Court Premises. Addressing the Bar Council members after inaugurating the courts here, he said the Indian judiciary was held in high esteem in all developing and developed countries. However, there was criticism often from uninformed or misinformed quarters the judiciary was unable to clear the backlog of cases. He said the mounting number of cases in the courts has been one of the greatest challenges of judiciary and among the remedial measures, constitution of new or additional courts is one way out of tackling the pendency of cases. Mr Justice Mohammed said there were 1,200 cases pending in the family court in the district and 500 matters made over to the Additional Family Court. At present, more than 15 cases were filed every day with a spurt in matrimonial cases. Justice Mohammed said the Conciliation and Mediation Centre would handle cases from civil courts, family courts and labour courts. -- (UNI) -- 19MS15.xml
